Fitbit is exhibiting the Aria Wi-Fi Smart Scale, a digital scale that plugs into Fitbit’s health tracking service. Like the Ultra which monitors your exercise and sleep, the Aria stores your weight and BMI data, helps you set goals and connect with other users.
We like Fitbit because they’re a big player in the self-measurement space. At the Lab, we see consumers using a wide array of technology to gather data about themselves–steps per day, $ spent, calories consumed–in order to improve their lives. Brands have the opportunity not only to use that data for consumer insights but to empower people with this technology. Think of a healthcare company offering a discount for those who increased their weekly sleep or a running shoe manufacturer holding a 5K day where users can log their runs on a microsite.
