The mobile payments space has been under heavy scrutiny recently–just see the NYT piece last weekend–but ISIS is one of the few consortium’s that is aimed at developing the infrastructure and standardization mobile payments are in desperate need of. The joint-venture among carrier networks is finally set for a nationwide rollout after pilot programs in select cities. With eMarketer estimating that U.S. “proximity” mobile-payment transactions will top $1 billion this year, we will see how much of that market ISIS will be account for.
