During their presentation at this week’s NFC & Mobile Money Summit, Isis announced their platform may be ready to roll out nationwide within weeks.
As you might recall, Isis is an NFC-based mobile wallet platform meant to compete with the likes of Google Wallet. It is a joint effort by several US-based MNOs (Mobile Network Operators). The idea is that you walk up to a point-of-sale, choose a credit card to use on your mobile device, enter a PIN # and then tap to pay.
A longstanding debate about NFC has unfolded in recent years over whether payments or non-payments applications would initially spur adoption. Isis is obviously betting on the former being the case.
