Just a quick note here regarding yet another real world company that's getting involved in Second Life. Tomorrow, at 3 p.m. PST, Lego will sponsor a debut party for the next iteration of its Lego Mindstorm robots.
Created with the help of the Electric Sheep Company (the same folks who were behind MLB.com's virtual Homerun Derby), the event will feature video streamed in from the real world kickoff at Wired Magazine's headquarters, and a Second Life contest that displays the flexibility of the Mindstorm robots.
Beginning on July 14th, Second Life residents were able to join the 'Big Robot on Campus' group and receive their own Alpha Rex robot, which can be modified and scripted to create a variety of different actions. The folks from Electric Sheep suggested building a robot that either solved a Second Life problem or that you could remotely control, but I've only gotten around to wearing mine on my head so far.
See all you folks there!
