The latest release of the Joost software contains an API that enables 3rd party developers to make widgets that work within the Joost platform. Joost is being pretty low key about this, perferring to wait a few months to see what sort of creative widgets get made. Joost's ultimate goal is to allow 3rd parties to enhance the Joost user experience. Something to keep an eye on because at it's core Joost turns TV viewing in to a social experience. Joost currently lacks the installed base of another social utility, Facebook. However, the enhanced functionality that third party applications brought to Facebook set off a frenzy of activity with the service overall.
