The screens continue to get bigger and the fidelity crisper of the devices on display at CES but what seemed truly new were the number of companies inviting the developer community to make applications that run on their properties.
Apps for internet connected TVs, apps for mobile phones, and apps for instant messenger platforms were all being sought. As the functionality of core media hardware seems to be plateauing, the next wave of exponential innovation will come from the content experiences that run on all these amazing machines.
It is exciting to see the principle of open development take hold! Not only will this allow more rapid experimentation to reach consumers but it also presents an opportunity for Brands to create new ad-like objects to reach their consumers.
