Yesterday on alt.hypertalk Tim Berners-Lee proposed a new project entitled “WorldWideWeb”. This project, as I understand it, would consist of documents stored on networked servers that would be hyper-linked to eachother.
The more I think about it, the more I think this is going to be a very big deal. Academics can post research papers and then e-mail the unique document address to their colleagues. Right now I’m not sure whether the general public would be interested in it, but if they are it would probably to post pictures of their cats with funny captions.
